With the release date of Apple's new iPhone 13 series highly tipped to arrive in September, we've got just a month to launch — and we're working hard to sift through and cut through major iPhone leaks.
New iPhone rumors have been surfacing from various sources for the past few months, and now we've got a clear picture of some of the specs of the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 13 mini.
From our digging, we're confident we've got a pretty clear picture of the new iPhone 13 model, and we've cut the rumors down into one handy, bite-sized chunk… as well as tons more depth of where we're going. Let us explain everything you need to know about the new iPhone range.
iPhone 13 Release Date: September 2021 is likely when we will hear about the iPhone 13, but an exact launch or release date is yet to be clarified. Our best guess is that you'll hear about the new iPhone on September 14, 2021.
iPhone 13 price: Expect a similar price tag as the iPhone 12 range, a leak suggests it will be the same. The iPhone 12 Mini - the cheapest of the 2020 iPhones - started at $699 / £699 / AU$1,199, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max was priced at $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,849.
Design: Very little change is expected from the iPhone 12, but it seems that the company will change the design of the rear camera. It appears that the two cheaper phones will feature a diagonal lens arrangement, but it is largely identical to last year's handsets.
Colors: Apple may debut some new colors with the iPhone 13 series, and the two rumored versions are pink and orange. With them, we expect to see similar colors to the last-gen ones like purple, black,,, and white.
Display: Screen sizes and resolutions are expected to remain the same across the range of iPhone 13 products, but both the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are rumored to feature 120Hz refresh rates. This means that the image on these screens will be smoother than on the previous iPhone. Also, we are expecting an always-on display on every handset as well.
Camera: Apple is expected to make changes to the iPhone 13 series camera, and the two Pro handsets could get an upgraded ultra-wide shooter. The iPhone 13 Pro may also get an upgraded telephoto camera, with some leaks suggesting that LiDAR may be present on all four models, giving you improved depth perception. Improvements are also expected in the video recording software, including a new portrait mode.
Specs: The A15 chipset will power each of these handsets, but we don't know yet how powerful it will be. It is also heavily rumored that Apple may bring a 1TB iPhone for the first time in 2021, to allow for the largest iPhone size ever.
Battery: If the biggest iPhone 13 battery leak is true, you can expect a bigger battery inside the phone of 2021. These are expected to be quite large, with the iPhone 13 expected to offer a 3,095mAh cell compared to the iPhone 12's 2,805mAh. What would this mean? Expect the iPhone 13 to last longer than your previous iPhones.

Want the full picture of the iPhone 13 leak so far? You'll find it below, where we walk you through every detail and description of the next iPhone series.
We've been covering Apple handsets since the first iPhone was revealed by Steve Jobs in 2007, so we're confident we bring you only the most likely and consistent new iPhone based on dates, source validity, and our analysis. Well, just what makes the most sense to us.
The release date for the iPhone 13 is likely in September 2021, and we expect it to hit stores on the third or fourth Friday of the month (which makes it September 17th or 24th).
Before 2020, Apple has often announced its new iPhones on the first or second Tuesday of September. If this happens again in 2021, we expect the iPhone 13 range to come out on September 7th or September 14th and release 10 days later.
Many analysts expect an announcement in the third week of September this year, which means that September 14 is the most likely date, September 15 is also possible, as the brand sometimes announces phones on Wednesdays.
Based on Apple's general outlook we would expect pre-orders to open on September 17th, with a release date of September 24th (next Friday).

The only major price leak about the iPhone 13 range suggests that the upcoming model will be priced similar to the iPhone 12 range. The same source has now said it twice, and it's as we expected.
We'll be sure to include more 2021 iPhone price leaks and rumors as we hear them, but below you can see prices for the iPhone 12 series that we relatively believe will be similar to the iPhone 13.
In any case, the prices may go up a bit this year. This is especially true outside the US, as there are rumors that much of the world will get the mmWave 5G technology that the US iPhone 12s already supports, driving up the price in the process. But we didn't expect big changes.
iPhone 12 Prices
- Phone model - US - UK - Australia
- iPhone 12 mini - $699 - £699 - AU$1,199
- iPhone 12 - $799 - £799 - AU$1,349
- iPhone 12 Pro - $999 - $999 - AU$1,699
- iPhone 12 Pro Max - $1,099 - £1,099 - AU$1,849
The iPhone 13 family is expected to look very similar to the iPhone 12 series, but there are some key differences that we've heard over and over again in leaks and rumors.
In the gallery below, you can check out our own renders based on the leaks below. We've taken the information we've heard from a whole host of different sources and created our own artist's impression of what we expect to see.
These might not be entirely accurate when the phone debuted later this year, but judging by the leaks we've heard from July 2021 and earlier, this is our most recent version of the handset. Nice picture.
The biggest design leak so far includes CAD files that show a smaller notch, as well as a diagonal camera layout for the iPhone 13. They also show a slightly thicker build, likely to accommodate the rumored bigger battery.
Changes in Apple iPhone 13 Notch
The notch is very likely to change with this generation of Apple handsets. Far more sources are pointing to its shrinking than staying the same size, so a smaller notch is likely, with one source saying that the Face ID sensor has also apparently shrunk, which is a Will allow smaller notch.
We have now also seen some leaked photos that purportedly show screen glass for the iPhone 13 range, and a small notch, which is achieved by moving the earpiece to the top bezel.
Similarly, a 3D-printed iPhone 13 mock-up also shows a small notch. Notably, the notch here is 26.8mm wide (compared to 34.83mm on the iPhone 12), but it's also 5.35mm deep, making it stick out a bit more than the 5.3mm one on the iPhone 12.
The mock-up also shows that the contents of the notch may have been moved around a bit, the selfie camera is shown on the left instead of the right, and the earpiece has moved to the bezel.
Our renders include a notch that is 30% thinner than that of the iPhone 12, and that seems to be the consensus from most of the iPhone 13 leaks.
iPhone 13 Touch ID or Face ID?
A leak has suggested that the company may eventually be ready to introduce an under-display fingerprint scanner. A lot of the best Android phones already include this technology, and this leak suggests that Apple is set to follow suit. In fact, we've heard of an in-screen scanner several times now at this point, with Apple apparently considering the addition of Face ID.
It's not a certainty, though, as noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that the feature is coming to some 2022 iPhones — aka the iPhone 14 — and will likely leave the iPhone 13 line.
That said, an iOS 15 leak suggests that the company's next major software update will come with support for dual biometric authentication – a feature that would only be possible to implement on devices with both Face ID and Touch ID. Still, we wouldn't count on it.
One thing that probably won't change is the size of the phone, with the leaks revealing that we'll be seeing four models with the same screen sizes as the iPhone 12 range.
That said, the dimensions may vary slightly, with a report suggesting that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be 7.57mm thick, making them 0.17mm thicker than their predecessors.
The same report suggests that the camera blocks will be far ahead, with the iPhone 13 Pro's clearly at 3.65mm (compared to 1.7mm on the iPhone 12 Pro) and the iPhone 13's 2.51mm (compared to 1.5mm). iPhone 12).
We are expecting a mix of old and new colors for the iPhone 13 range, with the latest leak revealing that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max may come in black, silver, sunset gold (called the bronze shade), and rose gold (which is said to be very yellow).
Elsewhere, we've heard that we may see pink and orange debut this year as well.
That pink and orange rumor comes from one source, though without much of a track record, and another leak suggested that Orange apparently didn't make it past the prototype stage. That said, the orange is probably described as bronze, so maybe the bronze version leaked it above.
In any case, those are two exciting colors, so for our own artist's impressions, we took the orange and pink hues of other Apple products, including the AirPods Pro Max and the new iMac for 2021, to give you an idea of what shades What can be seen Like (you can see them in the gallery above).
We have also heard several times now that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max may come in a matte black shade. Apparently, this graphite will be a new version of the iPhone 12 Pro, but much darker.
This means you are likely to see more color options with some brighter colors on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are likely to have fewer options with more cool colors like silver and gold.
One thing heavily rumored for the iPhone 12 that didn't come to fruition was the addition of a 120Hz refresh rate display. But rumors suggest that may be introduced on the iPhone 13, and that'll make the display look smoother when playing games or scrolling through your social media feed.
That technology may also work in a similar way to what we've seen on the company's iPad Pro range, where it can vary the refresh rate depending on what activity you're doing on your phone.
Multiple rumors have suggested the 120Hz refresh rate feature may be incoming, including reports from DigiTimes and well-placed analysts that have further suggested this tech might only be on two of the four anticipated iPhone 13 models.
Korean site The Elec added that industry sources say the top two models will get a 120Hz screen, so this may just be a Pro model feature in 2021. That site has also now added more details, claiming that Samsung will be the sole supplier of these 120Hz panels.
In fact, there's a chance it will have an even higher refresh rate than 120Hz, as an Apple patent talks about a phone with multiple refresh rates, possibly topping out at 240Hz - which is a rate no mainstream phone currently offers. But patents often don't develop into features, so we'd take this with a pinch of salt.
We're also likely to see the introduction of an always-on display with the iPhone 13 family. Several reliable leakers - including Mark Gurman from Bloomberg - have suggested that will be the case. Android phones have offered this for years, so it's about time Apple got on board.
What sizes should you expect for the iPhone 13 family? The same as last year's models, based on rumors, meaning a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.
As for the camera, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo – who is often correct about Apple's information – has suggested that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max's ultra-wide cameras should be scaled down to f/1.8, a six-element drop from the current f/1.8. The lens can be hit. /2.4, a five-element lens on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.
He also claims that the Pro model will get autofocus thanks to their ultra-wide lens, with all four iPhone 14 apparently getting this upgrade in 2022. And Kuo reiterated this claim in June 2021, so he seems to have confidence in it.
That said, we've heard the same change in aperture from analysts at Barclays, but they claim this upgrade will come to all four iPhone 13 models. This should allow for better low-light performance - although potentially a shallower depth of field as well, which can be less desirable in landscape shots. Ultra-wide cameras are usually excellent.
Barclays' analyst note also mentioned that the iPhone 13 Pro could get a telephoto snapper similar to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, allowing for 2x to 2.5x optical zoom over its predecessor.
Kuo has meanwhile said that the telephoto camera will get the same six-element upgrade as the ultra-wide, at least on the "high-end" model.
As for the main camera, Kuo also has news about it, claiming that it will be switched to f/1.5 aperture (up from f/1.6 on the current model) on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This should improve low light performance and the bokeh effect for portrait shots, but it's a change that apparently won't come to the rest of the iPhone 13 range.
A report has also suggested that all four iPhone 13 models may have a LiDAR scanner and not just the Pro models as the iPhone 12 range. The same site has since reiterated that claim more than once, as has another source.
That said, another source refutes this claim, as has another. As these two leaks are more recent, we're inclined to say that they are more likely to be accurate, especially as one says that Apple has basically leaked all iPhone 13 models (explaining earlier leaks). had planned to bring LiDAR to the U.S., but now won. not doing. In such a situation, it seems more likely that only iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will get LiDAR.
A source has also said that all four iPhone 13 models will get sensor-shifted OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), an upgrade for all except the Pro Max, which it already has, and that the two Pro models will be one. Will get a big main lens. Another rumor also suggests that sensor-shift OIS and autofocus will be added to the ultra-wide cameras in the new phone, but possibly only on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models.
Elsewhere, sources have claimed that Apple is ordering more voice coil motors (VCMs) than usual. This is clearly for improvements to the rear cameras (possibly in addition to Sensor-Shift, which uses VCM) and improvements to the 3D sensor for Face ID.
All these changes could lead to a huge camera block, at least in the case of the iPhone 13 Pro, as a photo of the case purportedly designed for the phone, but an iPhone 12 Pro housing shows that The camera cut-out is too far. Large for the current model, as you can see above.
We've also heard rumors about a possible redesign of the two rear cameras on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini: instead of aligning vertically, they could be arranged diagonally.
An alleged photo of an iPhone 13 mini prototype was uploaded to Weibo showing what the final phone - and the redesigned cameras - could look like. You can also see the new camera design going forward in some leaks.
In terms of software, a Bloomberg report states that Apple is looking to improve video recording in 2021. New features include Portrait Mode – where there is a bokeh effect behind the subject – for video, possibly dubbed cinematic video, as well as a new extended professional ProRes tool for video editing, and an AI-powered filter system.
Lastly, there are reports that Apple is considering adding a periscope camera to the future iPhone. This will allow for a greater zoom range than current models, possibly up to 10x optical zoom, without potentially thickening the camera components. However, based on the rumors, it may not arrive until the iPhone 14 or later device. Kuo says don't expect it until 2023.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that the iPhone 13 could switch to soft board technology, which could allow for a physically smaller battery without reducing capacity.
In fact, Kuo has also said that the iPhone 13 could have a higher capacity battery than the iPhone 12. Kuo has reiterated that claim that Apple is experimenting with a "space-saving design," so he's sure it's an improvement. We'll see later in the year.
We've heard the same thing from Trendforce, which suggests that the iPhone 13 range will use a flexible circuit board instead of a rigid-flex one, with the former being smaller and leaving room for a larger battery.
A leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo makes a similar claim, and it also gives us the potential battery capacity. If the leaks are accurate, we can take a look at each model below (plus we've included the equivalent 2020 model sizes).
Model - Size - Last-gen size
- iPhone 13 mini - 2,406mAh - 2,277mAh
- iPhone 13 - 3,095mAh - 2,805mAh
- iPhone 13 Pro - 3,095mAh - 2,805mAh
- iPhone 13 Pro Max - 4,325mAh - 3,687mAh
Elsewhere we've heard that wireless charging could be improving. The iPhone 13 range will reportedly include a larger wireless charging coil, which could allow for faster charging, better heat management, and potentially reverse wireless charging (so you can put your AirPods on the back of your iPhone, let them juice up)...
As claimed by the same source, these large charging coils can work in conjunction with strong MagSafe magnets.
A website named MyDrivers also claims that there are sources that say that the iPhone 13 series will feature 25W wired charging. It is set to be faster than the 18W of the iPhone 12 series.
An Apple patent also talks about a 'protective charging' mode, which will prevent you from overcharging even if the phone is plugged in for a long time (like overnight). However, patents don't always have uses, so don't count on them.
APPLE IPHONE 13 SPECS AND PERFORMANCE
A source (leaker John Prosser) has also suggested that maybe 2021 is when we see the introduction of 1TB iPhones. It's a storage size the company hasn't experimented with yet, at least for its smartphones, and we'd expect it to be an option on the most expensive Pro handsets. We've heard this many times.
If Prosser's information is correct, it could end up being the most expensive iPhone ever because that's a lot of storage on a handset. Such an option would be more useful to professionals than average users, but it's just a prototype that Apple is apparently testing for now.
That means we may not see it, especially as another source points to the same storage capacity as last year.
The performance boost should be as it normally is every year, but we've heard that advanced vapor chamber cooling is being deployed to the iPhone 13 – though if it's not ready this year, we may have until the iPhone 14. Might have to wait. Check it out.
We have also heard that the A13 chipset expected to power the iPhone 15 range has entered mass production. The source of a report on that topic also says that this is a 5nm chipset, which is the same size as the A14, possibly meaning that the improvements here won't be massive. Although we have heard elsewhere that it is called '5nm+'.
Another source has now also said that the iPhone 13 range will have a 5nm chipset, with the 3nm expected for the iPhone 14.
We already know quite a bit about the iPhone 13's software, as it is sure to run iOS 15, and while the next generation of software isn't out yet, it has been announced by Apple.
Highlights of iOS 15 include various FaceTime improvements, such as the ability to join calls via a web link, which Android users can also access, as well as the added spatial audio and voice isolation that comes with it.
Meanwhile, Messages will get status updates. A Live Text feature will allow you to translate text into images or copy it into a document. The weather app has been redesigned. Maps get new details for commercial districts and buildings. getting, and many more.
OTHER APPLE IPHONE 13 LEAKS
Of course, the 2021 iPhones are expected to continue with 5G support, but a source suggests that mmWave models will be more widely available than the iPhone 12 range (which only got mmWave in the US), with both the UK and Australia ( among other places) potentially getting them.
We've heard it again many times since then, with over 50% of the world's iPhone 13 models believed to support mmWave. That's potentially far faster than the sub-6GHz 5G that the iPhone 12 is stuck on in much of the world, but it also requires the right infrastructure and spectrum that most places don't have yet. Is.
While keeping up with wireless technologies, we've also got the idea that the iPhone 13 is going to pack some Wi-Fi 6E connectivity for even faster links to the web and cloud.
This was first predicted by analysts and they have since said the same again with greater certainty, naming the obvious suppliers of Wi-Fi 6E technology.
Finally, an Apple patent details a system that allows an iPhone to track your gaze, so it can see what part of a document you're reading and swap letters in words to other parts. Or can be obscured by rearranging.
This would mean that you can read sensitive documents without the risk of being spied on in public places. However, we're not convinced it will make it to the iPhone 13.
There have also been rumors of a portless iPhone debut in 2021. It's a claim we've heard from multiple sources, but most suggest that only one model (most likely the iPhone 13 Pro Max) will go portless.
Apple is apparently trying to figure out how to reset a portless iPhone as well. We don't think that's likely to happen in 2021, but maybe it's something Apple is considering for future devices.
APPLE IPHONE 13 OR IPHONE 12S?
There is every possibility that the next iPhone will not be called the iPhone 13, and there are a few reasons for that. The biggest reason is that it seems to be a relatively minor upgrade over the iPhone 12 series.
Keeping this in mind, Apple can call these phones the iPhone 12s and iPhone 12s Pro range. While we haven't seen the 'S' used over the years, it's something that Apple has a history of using to mark more minor upgrades, and it's something that's known at least one leak. referred to as the upcoming phone.
Not only that, the number 13 can be an issue, as it is seen as an unlucky number in many parts of the world including the US, so Apple may want to drop this number when it comes time for the new iPhone...
Of course, calling this year's phone in the iPhone 12s range doesn't solve the number 13 problem, it just delays it, so it's possible this year or next year that Apple will push the last 13 directly into the iPhone 14 range. will leave.
