The new iMac (24-inch, 2021) is not only an impressive improvement over its predecessor in almost every way, but it's also the boldest reinvention of Apple's iconic all-in-one Mac for nearly 15 years.
It has a facelift that's both sleek and modern, and it's a very welcome update, as the previous design was starting to look rather stale.
It also comes in a new size, 24 inches, which replaces the 21.5-inch iMac model (the 27-inch iMac remains on sale). Impressively, despite the larger screen size, the new iMac (24-inch, 2021) is actually not much larger than the 21.5-inch model, with dimensions of 54.7 x 46.1 cm and a depth of only 14.7 cm (the screen itself is only 11.5 mm thinner), compared to its predecessor's dimensions of 52.8 x 45 cm and a depth of 17.5 cm.
This means you're getting a little more screen real estate on the new iMac, but without a significant increase in overall size; In fact, being significantly thinner, and lighter than its predecessor (4.48 kg compared to 5.68 kg), the new iMac is a more versatile all-in-one PC than it is to carry it around. Apple iMac Price and Availability

Still, the base price for the new iMac is certainly competitive, and we're glad Apple hasn't increased the price compared to the previous model, despite the upgrade. That's significantly cheaper than the now-discontinued iMac Pro, which started at $4,999 (£4,899, AU$7,299).
While the new iMac (24-inch, 2021) looks like it will be able to offer the same performance as the similarly specified MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020), it won't be able to compete with that kind of power. From all the promotional material and photos in this review, the most obvious change you'll probably notice is the overall look of the new iMac. It comes in seven colors, so you can choose the perfect finish for your beautiful look. Apple iMac colors are: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver (though you're limited to green, pink, blue, and silver for the entry-level model). If you remember in the late 90s and early 2000s, this color variation was the norm for the iMac, before Apple moved to a single gray color scheme for every computer it launched.

It's not just out there that Apple has made major changes to the iMac (24-inch, 2021), as it is the first iMac to run on the Apple M1 chip. According to Apple, the move to the M1 chip means the new iMac is up to 85% faster than the previous iMac that was based on Intel silicon. Meanwhile, Apple claims the iMac will have 2x faster GPU performance than even the fastest integrated GPU, something we're a bit skeptical about due to the existence of more powerful AMD APUs, and which we'll explore more in our depth. Still, before we unpacked the new iMac, we had a pretty good idea of how it would perform: That's because the M1 chip inside it is exactly the same as the one inside its other M1 products.
So, you get the choice of an M1 chip with an 8-core CPU (with four performance cores and four efficiency cores) and a 7-core or 8-core GPU - the same options you get with the M1 MacBook and Mac Mini.

The iMac (24-inch, 2021) webcam has also been improved. It's a 1080p FaceTime camera, which is an immediate upgrade compared to the 720p camera in the 21.5-inch model.
